Equisole EXternal-Weighted Training Aid for Equestrians

Weight your feet, Train your Seat!

Would you like a relaxed and balanced seat when you trot down the center line or perhaps a more stable lower leg and effective jumping position? If you answered yes, we have the ultimate training aid for you and it all starts with your SEAT!

By adding weight to the rider’s foot we found we could facilitate a more open hip angle to achieve a more productive and Correctly Connected seat and core. As the hip angle opens the rider is able to absorb the movement of the horse and confidently lengthen their legs.

The Equisole EX is made with 2.5 or 1.25 pounds of lead (two pieces that can be separated for a total of 2.5 pounds) set inside an external heel that attaches firmly to the riders boot.

The Equisole EX provides an effective gravitational pull that aids the dressage rider in getting a longer, more relaxed leg and encourages jumping riders to sink their weight into their heels and push their hips back.

The weights allow the rider to create new muscle memory and the feel can be reproduced when they are removed. Extra weight for more advanced riders can be added by using with the original Equisole for a total of just over 5 pounds of gravitational pull.

We do not recommend walking long distances in the Equisole EX. Tack your horse up and put the Equisole EX on your boot right before mounting or have your instructor put them on once you are mounted.

Practice riding at the walk without stirrups to feel the weights open and loosen your hip flexors and slowly progress to faster gaits. If you struggle with very tight hip flexors you may only want to work at the walk for your first few times riding. You can also work with shorter stirrups to limit the amount your hips flexors are stretched until you are ready to lengthen them. If you experience any pain beyond the pain of a quality stretch, seek the advice of a physical therapist.

WARNING:  Lead is known to be toxic if ingested or inhaled so do no allow them near any animals that may want to chew on them.

Awesome

My trainer, Lainey Ashker, suggested I get these to help me learn to elongate the back of my leg instead of just putting my heel down. After riding in them even once, I already felt a difference! It’s just enough to make me conscious of where I need to keep my leg and how I need to stretch down! Awesome awesome training tool! Cannot say enough great things about it!

Amazing!!!

I have a lot of pain in my hips, bone spurs etc. When I first get on it’s pretty painful until I can stretch out while my horse warms up at the free walk…. BUT…. These weights act almost like “traction” pulling my leg down (in reality my leg just hangs better) and it allows me to open up my hips and stabilize my leg. There’s barely any discomfort at all starting my ride when I have them on!!! The biggest thing I notice, I can actually feel my calf on my horse and I no longer pull my leg back & up to feel his sides. So now my aides are more effective and my hands more still since my leg is more stable. The inserts didn’t work with my boots bcuz there wasn’t enough room but these are great. I just put them on at the mounting block and climb on.
